Sangre De La Tierra
Sangre De La Tierra, or Blood from the Earth, is a drawing inspired by temptation and the value we give the importance of money. Since the Gulf War of 1990, I have been aware of the concept of energy and the stakes of its control in the form of oil and how it manifests itself in every single thing we need to live within comfort. The drawing is divided into two paths. The most evident is the “righteous path,” overgrown with nature of all types, moving forward with the hands of Jesus, symbolizing morality and ethics, emphasizing living virtuously guided by spiritual principles.
The second path is disguised within the foreground, with the earth becoming barren as a pool of oil seeps and gives birth to a serpent. Nature turns from its purity to an artificial made of paper money. Sangre De La Tierra expresses to be more mindful of temptations. While money is a good tool to sustain ourselves and others, it can easily manifest itself and blind the most moral to an insatiable lust that conjures terrible evils of humanity.
